This summer, step away from the noise and into a space created just for you.

Join us in Los Angeles for an intimate, three-day writing retreat designed for Black women Christian writers who are ready to rest, create, and reconnect—with God, with their voice, and with one another.

Hosted in a beautiful two-story home, this experience blends intentional writing time with deep community, spiritual renewal, and plenty of downtime.

Over the course of three days, you will:

  • Write freely and without pressure

  • Rest your mind, body, and spirit

  • Build meaningful relationships with other Black women writers

  • Be poured into creatively and spiritually

  • Enjoy moments of laughter, beauty, and ease

The Retreat Space

Just 15 minutes from LAX, this urban oasis offers four bedrooms, multiple desks, and several writing spaces — including an outdoor patio space.

This beloved family home is a popular site for private events as well as television and film productions.

RETREAT DETAILS

  • The Nia Retreat takes place Friday, June 26, 2026 8AM PDT - Sunday, June 28, 2026 12PM PDT.

  • Please arrange your fights so you can arrive into LAX no later than 6AM on Friday, June 26. (Thursday night arrivals are encouraged and lodging can be provided free of charge.)

  • Our program will end at 12PM PDT on Sunday June 28. Please arrange your flights to leave after 2PM PDT, if possible.

OUT-OF-TOWN GUESTS

  • Retreat prices range from $580-$800 for those staying at the retreat home for the weekend. You can choose your accommodations package from the options below.

  • Because this space is intentionally small, we’re holding each room with care.

    • Please RSVP by May 14 with your preferred accommodations package.

    • A 50% deposit is due by May 22 to secure your place. (The exact amount depends on the retreat package you select: a) double occupancy b) junior suite c) master suite.)

    • The remaining balance is due by June 22

    Once the rooms are filled, we’ll close registration and begin preparing the space for those who will be in the home.

L.A. LOCALS

  • A day-rate package of $380 is available for local attendees. This includes all program activities, outings, & food for the entire weekend. The day-rate excludes lodging.

  • We have a limited number of day rate packages available: 2-3 spots.

  • A discounted rate of $350 is available if you pay in full by May 22.

  • Please give your RSVP by May 14.

  • A 50% deposit is due by May 22 to secure your place.

  • Your remaining balance is due by June 22.

Master Suite

This master suite offers the ultimate private experience: an eclectic, Golden Girls themed-room with a spacious four-poster Queen bed coupled with a private two-room bathroom suite and balcony. $800. 1 Spot Available.

Junior Suite

This suite comes with a full-size bed, comfy arm chair, desk, and private bathroom. $700. 1 Spot Available.

Double Occupancy

This room includes two comfy full-size beds and a cozy desk for writing. The shared bathroom is just steps away. $580. 2 Spots Available. (1 Spot taken as of 4/23)

QUESTIONS

  • Who is invited to this retreat? This retreat is open to current & former members of 31 Exodus Arts Collective. The retreat is not being publicized to the public. It is invite-only.

  • What is included in the retreat cost? The retreat is all-inclusive once you land into LAX. The retreat includes pick-up and drop-off at LAX; ample space & time to write; inspirational sessions including a craft talk; time for personal and communal prayer; recreational time; and all of your food, including delicious home-cooked meals that you don’t have to cook!

  • Whose home are we staying in? The retreat is being hosted in the family home of Chanté Griffin, where she lives with her sister, Chef Bobbie.

  • How many people are attending? The retreat is designed to be intimate. There are only four lodging spots available for guests, alongside a handful of day-rate tickets for L.A. locals.

  • Are refunds available? Once you send your deposit, we reserve the spot for you. So after May 22, refunds are available only if we are able to find someone to book your spot in your place. Otherwise your deposit is non-refundable.

  • When will the retreat schedule be available? The finalized schedule will be given out sometime during the month of June.
