I never wanted to be an artist. And the thought of being a Christian artist - please! Christian art has a reputation for being cheesy and overtly preachy, so I definitely didn't want to be that kind of an artist.Read More

As a country we are thick in the midst of a national conversation about sexual harassment and assault. It is both hard and absolutely necessary. I’ve been reluctant to say what I’m about to say, for fear of being misunderstood.Read More
I shared my #MeToo story in my last post. Now I want to talk about Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore.
This man publicly admitted to dating teenagers when he was in his 30s. That’s alarming and probably illegal, depending on the extent of these relationships. The fact that the Republican Party refuses to denounce his behavior now that he is being accused of having had an inappropriate relationship with a 14-year-old… well, that speaks volumes about the Republican Party. (In case you’re wondering, I consider myself to be an Independent.) In recent years, the party has prioritized winning over morality—hence the election of 45. Their continued support of Moore is another example of choosing victory at at any cost, including one’s soul.
@@The fact that some people have tried to twist Scripture to justify his behavior, (saying that Mary was a teenager when she married an adult Joseph), is self-serving, sanctimonious, and sacrilegious.@@
@@If the Republican Party considers itself to be the moral conscience of the U.S., then we are who we are—a culture that perpetually demeans and violates women—because of them.@@
I’ve spent the last week interviewing actors who have been sexually harassed and worse while on the job, and my heart is heavy with the weight of these experiences. Almost every single woman was young when the incident(s) occurred. They were targeted because they were young.
Our politicians are charged with voting the interests of the public good. The Republican Party must do better.
As a Black, Christian woman who works in media and entertainment, I am committed to speaking the truth about this issue.
@@I pray that the Republican Party will actually follow the God whom they claim they worship, the God who says that there is neither Jew nor Gentile, slave nor free, male and female, but all one in Christ Jesus. This God, this Jesus, uplifted and defended women. This is the God I worship.@@
@@This is the God who has the power to lift the weight and vestiges of assault so that its victims are restored to wholeness. I pray that every #MeToo survivor experiences the healing presence of this God.@@
